Q: How much does it cost to run a gas fire?
A: This depends upon the
efficiency of the fire you are considering.
Natural gas that is piped into most towns and
cities in the UK currently costs around 2 pence per kW hour.
For example, Gazco E-Box™ with balanced flue
has an input of 4.10kW so it will cost just over 8 pence per hour
to run.
However, the true also cost depends upon the
efficiency of the appliance – the higher the efficiency, the
cheaper it is to run – and, in the case of the balanced flue E-Box™
at 86% efficiency, you will have 3.52kW of heat output for 8.2
pence. This makes the real cost of your heating 2.4 pence per kW
hour.
